Consumers Glass

The BrainWave® application at Consumers Glass involved three controllers on a glass bottle manufacturing line. The main process problem was to reduce the temperature settling time following changes to the temperature set point.

Installation of an advanced BrainWave® predictive adaptive controller resulted in significant performance improvements over the existing PID-based control system.

During the past two years, the time required for the glass temperature to settle following set point changes or production rate changes has been reduced by 50 percent. Consumers has realized annual savings of over $400,000 from recovered production as well as 24 percent tighter control of fill-point capacity.
